A Meaty Post...
Hey! This is gonna be a biiiiiiiiig entry I fear, get a cuppa there first, maybe go to the toilet as well....
So I'll do this chronologically, I started writing in the diary a bit again, here's what was in it:
Christmas Down under
Saturday December 24th 2005 - 7.30PM
Ahhhhhhhhh...... it's been ages since I wrote in this thing, Asia to be exact. It's Christmas eve, doesn't feel like it in some ways: no decorations in the house, no family, no xmas music (I forgot it!) and of course, the weather. But on other ways it does: days with nothing to do, everyone is acting like they're under house arrest, alcohol at any stage of the day and shopping bags stuffed with spuds, carrots, turkeys, ham and the like.
Tim and Smeels have gone for a nap in anticipation of the night ahead, the Scots are getting kitted out in their kilts at the moment and listening to Jack Johnson at levels taht are harmful to them. The girls found work in a local bar (where they are being oggled by the local men) and I've retired to Terence to scribe a few thoughts into this yoke.
Smeels jsut came out to Terence to fetch some shtuff and got a good old fright when I was sitting in the front seat! We're planning to phone the shack tomorrow morning to catch all our friends there for Xmas eve. I've thought about that place so much, hehe!
Kyneton is quiet, just a regular small country town, with that everyone-knows-everyones-business feel to it. It's definately a nice retreat for Xmas.
We went to a lake/reservoir yesterday, which was nice, but partially under construction, so we quickly progressed onto plan B: A microbrewery 30 minutes away in Woodend - nice beers, God bless ales. Mmmm ales.
Ale, it just sounds like some sort of tonic doesn't it?
Well if I stay out here any longer, they'll think me an antisocial, bordering on recluse, so off with me!Merry Hols!
Monday December 26th 2005 12.00PM
It's the St. Stephens day comedown, that happens before the St. Stephens day piss-up-never liked that phrase.Twas a great Xmas and an eventful one! Got up and sang a Irish songs on Xmas eve, twas great craic. The funny thing is , it was the crowd that picked all the songs. It's gas they know the music over here. I was impressed!
Some fighting occured between some girls and lads outside the pub, which continued around the corner to outside the police station, lucky we wern't involved.
Poor Steph hyperventilated after some hysteric girl pushed her on her way home passed the group. Paramedics were called and Steph was soon back to normal breathing. Thank God for that 'cause if anything happened her I wouldn't have had Xmas dinner cooked for me, phew.
MacLeod stayed drunk for about 48hours - impressive.
We had a great Xmas dinner, it's gas that we can do a proper meal like that on our own - God we're growing up so fast....
A bird pooped on Smeels yesterday - that was a good 90 seconds of laughter after that.
We dressed up in Batman & Superman outfits - never to old.
Watched the three "Back to the Future" movies in a row.
Met some Athlonians! In Kyneton! Can you believe it.
Third split on the front of the guitar - still sounds great :)
Steak...it's time for steak.....
Now!That's all from the diary, well I'll get everyone up to date.We left Kyneton on the 28th I think. Neils parents arrived, gas craic they are. They went to Melbourne with the Scots, the Canadians went down to Portsea for some body boarding, and the Irish went to Torquay and Jan Juc for some surf. Awwwwwwwwww yeah bro!Great times were had by all, but withdrawal symptoms were felt by all I think after the short term break up of the convoy. We painted most of Terence down there, but the spray cans of yellow paint didn't work so we couldn't finish it. But he looks great, I'll post a pic of him...So Tim and Smeels got an apartment lined up for us in Melbourne through Tims friend, Ford out here. We moved in on the 30th December. It's great, check it out:Internet in the apartment,tv,dvd, serious kitchen, 2 car spaces, swimming pool, gym and jacuzzi on 7th floor. We are staying on the 13th floor of Liberty Tower. Doesn't it sound so cool?It makes such a big difference from all the drinking water from containers collecting rain water, using a bush as a toilet, using the sea as your bath, and PB&J sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner becuase nothing much else besides tinned tuna and beans lasts in the heat.So I'm gonna be here for 5-6 weeks, get a job and save to go to NZ sometime in February, can't wait!OK for al those interested in weather, it was 43 degrees yesterday here. thank god the apartment has AC. It's been hot but that's definately the hottest day since we got here, with a low of 28degrees yesterday it was a sticky day.The PC in the apartment need some attention, so I don't have internet at the mo, it went yesterday.Neils parents, Stu and Mags, are around as well for awhile so we're gonna be hangin' out with them over the next while, I'm dying ta go for a pint with them! Stu went bodyboarding with the lads when they went dow nto the girls in Portsea the other day, so hopefully we'll have a ninth person out in the water the next time we're out. The more people the less chance I'm gonna be eaten by anything! So I've got a house number here: +61396299350 - put 00 in place of the + on a house phone. It's a 4person apartment here, it's the Irish plus MacLeod here, and the others are gone to move into one around the corner today after squatting in ours for the last two nights...shhhhhhh....
Well, I'm gonna nurse a hangover for today, then get a bank account, tax number, CV and hopefully a job tomorrow!hehe!Happy new year to all!I'm off to use the other apartments net to send this, I'm gonna stick a load of photos up here now for people to gawk at, hope you enjoy them, they're some of my favourites of the trip so far.
Later dudes!
